About Be Pineapple Pottery

Present

I'm a fresh graduate from Musashino Art University in Tokyo. I have been studying craft design in ceramics there.

After years of preparing and studying, in 2022 spring I finally set up my own ceramic studio in Tokyo, where I moved to since 2018.

I make functional potteries such as coffee mugs, pour over brewers, and tableware of course. I also do decorative pieces like vases or sculptures. You can see my past work on my Instagram account.

Past

Before coming to Japan in 2018, I worked at Google and Airbnb as a software engineer. Although I loved my engineering job that required a lot of logical thinking and clearly defined standards and requirements everywhere, I was always curious about the crafts' world. I was a member of a local pottery studio in San Francisco for 1 year before taking the leap of faith and coming to Japan to pursue pottery in a more serious fashion.

I was born and raised in China, and lived 10+ years in California, United States before coming to Japan to become an undergraduate student again. The journey itself has given me a lot of perspectives and inspirations and hopefully my work reflects some of that.
